Cleethorpes Car Show

The 6th annual Performance and Modified Car Show June 2006.
The Biggest and Best So Far

The Show

June the 11th 2006 was without a doubt the most successful Max’d car club run performance car show in this area and was a true showing of what this club means about being serious about what we do! We had divine intervention from the big man upstairs in the way of the one and only legend that is Reverend Bob (Rob Hallam) and his very supportive girlfriend who came along for the day and kept the man himself hydrated whilst going around preaching from the good book of Modified cars in the way only he can! We also had another legend with us for the day in the Shape of Andy “Millsy” Mills from Max Power who kept his word and came over for the day and spent a lot of time walking around chatting to people about their pride and joy and put up a superb page on the Max Power website in the galleries section the next day!!!! We had the most awesome weather and the most awesome turnout of performance and modified cars the area has ever seen with cars ranging from little known GTM kit car to the all conquering Skyline’s, Subaru’s and Evo’s in vast quantities which made a truly awesome sight as you walked In the main gate!

The first thing you saw as you walked in was 2 beautiful but very purposeful Aston Martin cars brought along by local firm Aston Hire who showed the public just why James Bond 007 uses these awesome British sports cars! Next in line was the awesome display of Evo’s from Lancer Evo .net which was a very welcomed addition to our show as all the cars were quality motors and very well turned out! It was great to have the groups support!

Next to them was the First of the mixed clubs Jap Club.com which also had an awesome mix of well sorted and well turned out cars ranging from Celica’s to Awesome Drift Skylines with Mitsubishi GT 3000 and Honda’s also being represented and so nice to have them along for the first time too! Alongside them we had another bunch of awesome Jap Beasts in the way of the Skyline owners.com they had R32, R33 and R 34 cars on show and how awesome it was to see them at our show for the first time too!

Next in line was our Max’d Car Club with a truly great display of cars all turned out to our usual high standards with a wicked display of cars including GTM Spyder, Saxo’s, Corsa’s, Skylines, C2 Citroen’s, Mx 5’s, Seat’s, Focus’s Astra’s, Calibra’s and the newest addition to our club Andy’s awesome Ford F150 Lightning truck to name but a few! Alongside us was the RS owners boys Lincolnshire region with their usual high standard of well presented vehicles which always draw the crowd and please many a loyal Ford driver! These lads are always strong supporters of our event and we enjoy having them along every year!

Next to the RS lads was the local Jap club Jap-Ass which was a mixed Jap bunch with Lee’s Evo and another Evo with a few very nice Scoobies well displayed and nice to have them along for the first time too! Around the outside of the Showground we had the following clubs such as the Lincolnshire region of the Vauxhall Sports Car Club - led by Ed Renshaw whom I have known for a long time now and it was great to have the very cheerful bunch of lads and lasses back at our show and with a nice display of cars too!

Team Blood Sweat and Gears - another up and coming local group they had a very full display area as usual with a wide variety of cars supporting our show as they have always done for a few years now previously as the Mondeo owners group! Rick and Kelly did a top job of drumming up the support as always!! Another big mixed display was that of another of the local clubs the Gloyn Boyz with a good display of mixed cars ranging from Saxo’s to Supra’s and 350z’s to Mitsubishi Hearses and a well laid out display as well! We also had a showing for the first time of the Trent Valley Mini club with 4 little original Mini’s, which also got a fair bit of attention!

The Trade Stands

Around the outside of the showground we had some awesome trade displays featuring the Following people who are all local: Spraybay and Racepaints Mick and Alan and the gang already well known to most people round here had their awesome 150 Harley Davidson truck on display and talked to people about their paint and graphic requirements.
C J Powder coating Chris and the gang brought along some samples of their superb quality powder coating for all to see and discuss with them!

Big Cat Technologies fronted by Lee, put together a little RC track with time board and timing system with sound affects in less than 3 days and it went down so well they could keep all the batteries charged! Lee says next year he will be well prepared though! A.W Tracksport with an awesome race prepared Golf and some fun Buggies. Thurlby Motors they had some tasty Vauxhalls and the awesome Bio Ethanol fuelled BTCC car Astra driven by local Lady driver Fiona Ledgate was a very top lady spending time talking to people and signing autographs for fans.

Astle BMW They had to of the prestigious BMW range with them one of which was a World touring car Replica. Geoff Steel Racing they had a very nice display of cars including race prepared BMW’s and the awesome BTCC car of Martin Bell as well. Martin was a top bloke and always had time to talk to people about the cars and his season so far and sign autographs for many fans! Automax/Lifestyle they had a nice little display of Buggies, Superbikes, BMW 328 (Jimbo’s) a beautiful Ford Mustang and a Classic Austin V8 hot rod!

Snap on Tools
were represented by Paul Hardy and his family showing off a good variety of super tools to suit all jobs! A&S signs They did their usual top job in supplying a vast array of stickers and number plates etc! The new boys on the block were Motorworld after I approached Kev at the Cleethorpes shop and said how about a stand? They had a very professional approach to this event which worked very well in their favour and certainly kept them busy all day! Audio Island Nick and the crew brought along a display of audiovisual equipment that among other things they supply and fit. Mac Tools Paul had a great display of specialist equipment and tools for all who may require them!

Trophy Awards & Raffle

The turnout of cars was better than usual and a new lifeline had been added in the shape of a large selection of modified Japanese Performance cars including Skyline’s, Evo’s , Scooby’s and Toyota’s but to name a few! The displays were very good with an outstanding array of cars well set out and captivating the public’s attention as they walked in!
Reverend bob was doing his bit socialising in his own unique style and the punters got a real treat as all the days antics were being filmed by Shaun and the Guys from Focus 7 studio for a soon to be released DVD showing all the days events and the outrageously funny interviews with Reverend Bob, Millsy and the un- suspecting punters that the Rev dropped in on with the camera crew!

We had a great day and the Trophy presentation was done in great style by the one and only Max’d duo of Reverend Bob and Millsy and was an absolute scream from where I was stood as the trophy winners were treated to a warm if not sometimes humorous line of banter form the man in the cloth! He had the crowd laughing and cheering and even achieved a Mexican wave from them! After all the entrants had judged each others cars the votes were all counted up and the results are listed below:

Big Thanks!!!

This years show promoted by ourselves and helped along the way by our special guests Reverend Bob (Rob Hallam) and Andy (Millsy) Mills of Max Power has been declared the best ever by all who attended and confirmed by how much money we raised for “When you wish upon a Star” on only one day!

The final figure was a startling £3150.00 and has eclipsed the previous years by some £800.00 which is very pleasing as we were not totally sure how the one day show was gonna work out. We will be presenting this cheque shortly so keep your eyes peeled.

Jo (my wife) for doing what she does best with regard to all the tickets passes and all clerical work needed for this event which is a truly massive workload and without whom this event would not take place!

Matt and Ro The very good on the gate team without their help the day would have been very very hard work!

Del for being our on sight Paramedic

Reverend Bob (Legend) and Girlfriend for their kind words and ultimately their superb support! Both really genuine nice folks!

Andy ”Millsy” Mills (Legend) who kept his word and came along to our little show and went away impressed enough to post pics the next day on maxpower.co.uk Galleries!

Shaun and the guys from Focus 7 TV who did an absolutely top job and are currently making us up some DVD’s of the days events which we will be copying and selling out to the public to raise a few more pounds for When you wish upon a Star! These will include the personal interviews with Reverend Bob , Millsy and of course of the Reverends Victims! (did I really mean that???)

Appleby’s Ice Creams for supplying the much needed top quality Ice creams for the day!

The Country Cabin for supplying top quality food and very good prices as always!

Big Thanks to all who helped in anyway with the show and thanks to Lee, Jamie & Dawn for the use of the sound system and for the tunes during the day!

Most of all thanks to all of you that came and displayed your cars and brought your trade stands to our show and made the best show in this area ever possible!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks from the Max’d Team
