Well it happened and to say this was the first time running this format it was brilliant!!!
The morning started well with no rain and a quite warm feel in the air and this made the drive to R.A.F Barkston Heath near Grantham a very pleasurable one with great anticipation by myself, Joseph, Roy, Andy and Kaz ,Karl and crew and Adi and not forgetting the Max’d legend he he Chris Key! (he knows what we mean lol)

We all got signed in and had all the cars scrutineered to make sure there were no faults that would cause any accidents and they all flew through the checks.
We all attended the drivers briefing given by Colin “The main man” Jebson of Javelin Trackdays and then it was play time!
After spending most of my time on the handling course and actually drifting through most of it I too was drawn into the Drift play area which was the most exhilarating thing I have done in my Skyline R33 track car to date.
It was an amazing experience and would highly recommend any who fancies a go in their rear wheel drive motor to do so as after doing several smokie laps and stringing together some pretty good sequences of drift towards the end found myself going quicker on my final handling runs due to having a better understanding of my car under extreme circumstances and therefore able to drift the car more confidently and much quicker as well!

We all did a couple of slow speed sighting laps and then it was onto the real thing. The starting system was the similar type used by the World Rally Championships and I have to say one of the best I have used!
I was struggling on the first few handling runs trying to find any sort of grip and getting the lines right, along with braking points, how much boost to run and most importantly how much throttle and which gear!!

Skyline Lou was there doing awesome tyre smoking demo runs in her R33 Skyline (BDC competitor)on the day and soon found herself tutoring the people who had gone to have a play and taking them in her car and then in theirs to show them what their own cars could do in the hands of an expert!
The staff and Colin were so impressed Lou is now going to be a drift instructor for Javelin so that anyone fancying a go on the drift area can be guided and shown how to do it correctly and as safely as possible!
